Here’s definitely something that would fit under the “non-running” category of my blog. But, I hope you all enjoy this review: I saw Cavalia’s “Odysseo” in Mississauga with a large group of seven on June 23, 2017. We got the VIP package which included a dinner buffet before the show, open bar (wine and beer), and dessert buffet during intermission, access to the stables after the show, and a souvenir (book). I think the package was quite worth it:   The pre-show buffet was quite good. It seemed like there was a bit of a Mediterranean taste to the buffet[…continue reading]

This is a story about a hockey player. But even more than that, it’s a story about a human. I started writing this as a Facebook post but it got much longer and detailed than I expected. I know this blog is mostly about running, but this is a great motivational story that transcends hockey, and kind of just warms the heart. So, this is a little summary of the roller coaster for a little known NHL player named John Scott. Never heard of him? Neither had I.   The brief Wikipedia article about him tells you most of what you’d[…continue reading]

I liked the trip down memory lane last week so much that I dug through some other old documents from my university days in hopes of finding some more Throwback Thursday (#TBT) gems. I found my old F!rosh Handbook from the fall of 2006 (At UofT Engineering, Freshmen Orientation was referred to as F!rosh Week, and the exclamation mark came early because it was such an exciting event). This book was produced for engineering students that were entering first year at the University of Toronto in the fall of 2006. The editor of this publication, Ariel Feldman did a really good job with the[…continue reading]

I received a notification on Tuesday that a photo had been added of me to an alumni website. The photo is a scan of a page from a 2006 university yearbook. It’s funny that I have absolutely no recollection of writing this incredibly nerdy blurb, and yet I can wholeheartedly believe that I wrote it. During the 2005-2006 academic year, I had a position in the engineering student government as “Sponsorship Director.” The job was to try to find free money for events and publications. But, as with most things I do, I went crazy with it and got much more[…continue reading]

As I mentioned in this post, I was on a cruise aboard the Celebrity Century through the South China Sea for most of March. As promised, I’m sharing a post of just pictures of the food. It’s like Instragraming dinner but on a much more epic scale! I wish I had taken pictures of the menu each day. They had really fancy descriptions of each dish. I’m afraid the captions on some of these plates is rather lacking, and I’m grasping at what I think it was. WARNING, the rest of the page contains pictures of tasty food, most of[…continue reading]
