Be Strong, You Never Know Who You Are Inspiring"

You Never Know Who You’re Inspiring

This seemed appropriate for a Motivation Monday. I was feeling kinda down last week: The really cold weather was discouraging me from running and forced me to cut a run short. And I’ve been missing a lot of gym sessions with my trainer because of scheduling conflicts. And then I was sent flat on my butt by a cold. Among that and other things going on, I was feeling pretty discouraged, out of control, and a little hopeless. But, then I got inspired and motivated in a way I didn’t expect. I had quite a few errands and chores to[…continue reading]

This is a story about a hockey player. But even more than that, it’s a story about a human. I started writing this as a Facebook post but it got much longer and detailed than I expected. I know this blog is mostly about running, but this is a great motivational story that transcends hockey, and kind of just warms the heart. So, this is a little summary of the roller coaster for a little known NHL player named John Scott. Never heard of him? Neither had I.   The brief Wikipedia article about him tells you most of what you’d[…continue reading]

Welcome to December, the last month of 2015! My how the times flies! Many people make New Year’s Resolutions to try to correct some overdosing they may have done over the holidays. I published New Year’s Resolutions at the beginning of 2014 and 2015. That’s good motivation, but it may not last for everyone. The trouble with New Year’s Resolutions is that January 1 is a rather arbitrary start. I mean, the period after the holidays is definitely quieter, your[…continue reading]

A couple of weeks ago there was some situation at the Goodlife Fitness Gym I frequent where a customer was using chalk and a bunch of managers and staff went out to tell him he shouldn’t. But, before they approached him they talked each other up saying: “What are you?” “I’m a ten!” Some trainers and other staff kind of rolled there eyes, but others, especially the fitness manager was very into it. From what I understand, many of them attended a session at the CanFitPro expo earlier that week and “I’m a ten!” was a takeaway saying. I guess[…continue reading]

I haven’t done one of these motivation board type posts in a while. But this set felt kind of important so I thought I’d share it. In particular, I think I’ve finally gotten over complaining about exercising. I have to keep trying hard and and embrace that this grueling schedule is good for me and I have to trust that it will result in successes. Reflecting this, I have a number of new quotes on my motivation board this month: The first is from Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson, WWE wrestler and actor. He’s also a fitness freak. And some of[…continue reading]
