Super Safety Tip #6: Carry Money Because You Never Know…

Last week’s tip talked about carrying a mobile phone in case of emergency. One more essential item to carry is some form of currency. In the near future we may be able to use our mobile phones to make purchases, but until then you’ll have to stick to cash, credit and debit cards.

Having the ability to buy things on the run is very important. If you don’t have a mobile phone, you can use it at a payphone to make a call. You can buy snacks, drinks or food when you need them. You can even use money to pay for a bus or cab if you can’t run anymore. Having access to your material wealth is a piece of mind during long runs.

I don’t recommend you run around with a lot of change. Not only is it heavy, but it makes a funny noise that draws more attention than you probably want.

Encouraging runners to carry money sounds like it might encourage people to rob runners. Just think of it as motivation to run faster! 😉
