Form Tip #2: Stand Tall

Form Tip #2: Stand Tall

The long name for this tip is “Stand as if a string is lifting you from the top of your head.” It actually encompasses a lot of tips together and does wonderful things for your running form.

Too often, runners tend to slouch over with their heads down, hips back, shoulders hunched. Runners need their lungs to work! By imagining a string lifting your head like you’re a puppet, a lot of good things happen:

• Neck straightens
• Eyes look about 20 yards ahead
• Shoulders go down
• Hips come forward
• You stand up straight

Think about this tip about once every 10 minutes, especially toward the end of the race.
