Restarted Season!

My 23km run on Sunday was a success! It was great! I was a little stiff starting the run, but I took my time, did my 5-and-1’s, and finshed strong. The stiffness went away as I ran, and I found I was speeding up towards the end. There was wind, some rain, and it was even pretty dark when I finshed, but I think that just made it more epic! Injured Confidence

Being injured has been (or still is) quite a learning experience. Losing several months of training was bad. Having my fitness level decline so fast was worse. But I’m starting to deal with the psychological scarring of that injury. I used to be invincible, unstoppable, and absolutely confident that I could do anything. Marathon? Yes! Back-to-back marathons?! Absolutely! I was even considering moving into ultra-marathons. Getting injured didn’t just shatter my body; it shattered my confidence too. Fingers Crossed

I am cautiously hopeful about the state of my recovery. There are good signs, but I don’t want to jinx it. I was super-sore for most of this week. My 19km long run on Sunday morning was a shock to my system. The morning after that run I was unusually sore. Then on Monday evening I had a weight training session with my personal trainer. By the end of that I was twitching in muscles I didn’t know I had. So, Tuesday and Wednesday were sore as expected.
