I had a super pair of races for the Mississauga Marathon in May 2018. This post is a little late, but better late than never! As mentioned before, I was doing the half-marathon as fundraiser for the Trillium Health Partners Foundation for the Trillium Health Partners Hospitals. I exceeded my goal! Thank you to everyone who donated!!   EXPO Spring 2018 was a challenging season, and I didn’t train as much as I would have liked. But, my season’s penultimate goal of the Mississauga Marathon‘s “Weekend Warrior” challenge finished successfully on May 5-6, 2018! Like last year and the year before,[…continue reading]

It has been a LONG time since I posted on this blog. But, I guess it’s a good time to get back into the habit. On Sunday, March 4, I ran the Chilly Half-Marathon in Burlington for the 8th year in a row! Here are my previous race reports from 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 (this blog didn’t exist in 2011 so no race report from the first time…)   I had a pretty disappointing race in 2017, and this year I’m carrying 5 pounds more fat, so I wasn’t expecting to do much better. I was co-instructing a[…continue reading]

Here’s definitely something that would fit under the “non-running” category of my blog. But, I hope you all enjoy this review: I saw Cavalia’s “Odysseo” in Mississauga with a large group of seven on June 23, 2017. We got the VIP package which included a dinner buffet before the show, open bar (wine and beer), and dessert buffet during intermission, access to the stables after the show, and a souvenir (book). I think the package was quite worth it:   The pre-show buffet was quite good. It seemed like there was a bit of a Mediterranean taste to the buffet[…continue reading]

Chilly Half-Marathon 2017 Race Report

It’s been a very quiet few months on my blog. I’m hoping this post is the start of a turnaround and revival! The training season leading up to this race has been one of my worst. I declined to be an instructor leading to this clinic because I suspected I’d need time flexibility with everything else going on in my life. I really needed that flexibility because I was even busier than I expected! I missed a lot of runs because of work and other commitments. And I even missed some runs because I felt too tired, or the weather[…continue reading]

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half-Marathon 2016 Race Report

This race report may be over two months late, but better late than never! I mentioned in my October Review that I successfully paced the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half-Marathon. It was quite a relief that it went successfully because I would have felt bad letting down the people who were relying on me to pace. As has been discussed in several monthly updates this summer, I did not have a great training season: I had a number of injuries including my knee, back, and ankle. The ankle injury was particularly debilitating. I guess I was also not quite so motivated. I’m[…continue reading]
